Weekly Question 1
If you are married would you know if your husband is reading your blog? If you are in a relationship, would you know if your partner is reading your blog?
Actually, I am neither. I am not yet married and I am not in a relationship right now. Let me just tell you that I tell my friends, old co-workers and my siblings about my blog. I don’t tell my other relatives because I sometimes write about them hehe… I really don’t know if my friends and siblings read my blog, though. I know my friends Tim, Jhing and Shen read Utopia but the others…
Happy Sunday everyone and have a great week!

Opening a salon
My good friend, Allan, has several businesses under his name. He started with a computer shop right after college. And then when the shop reached its one year anniversary, he put up an internet shop right next to it. Because the two businesses did good for one year, he traveled the summer after that year. He got into the clothing business because of it. His clothing shop specifically caters to beach wear and accessories.
Now, after several years, all three businesses are doing good. I went to his internet cafe and the first time I went there, there were 15 computers. Now, after a couple of years, it already has 50 computers. The place was renovated and two floors were added. The computer shop and clothing store are still the same, albeit the place more brighter than before. He is now thinking of opening up a salon.
Allan saw how several salons in the metro are doing good despite the mediocre service. He wants to be able to put up a salon that will be affordable to the masses but will give a better service than other salons. So he is looking on the best way to start a salon business. I told him that he can now buy a complete salon software that will be able to help him with everything he needs in a salon business. Milano Systems is offering this type of software along with a spa software. This is the advantage of advanced technology. You can now open a business easily unlike before wherein you really need to study the business thoroughly and buy systems separately.
I am thinking of opening a computer shop with my aunt but I have to save some more money before I can do it.

Bagoong alamang
Bagoong alamang, or shrimp paste to non-Filipinos, is common in our household. We always have one ready just in case we want to put a little in our rice or viand.
Yesterday, we had some green mangoes with bagoong. It was really flavorful. I put a little bit of bagoong with my breaded porkchop, too. Weird for some people, I know. But I just love how bagoong tastes. It makes a simple meal taste great!
Kare-kare is a favorite of mine, with bagoong of course.
At home, we put tomatoes and chicharon in our bagoong alamang. Lalong nakakataba at nakaka-high blood hehe
It’s really delicious. If you are not Filipino or you haven’t tried bagoong alamang yet, I suggest you try it.
P.S. Too much of bagoong can cause high blood pressure.
Parents know best
I was reading the entertainment section of the newspaper a few minutes ago when an article caught my eye. It was about a promising young actress and a matinee idol who were in a controversial relationship that ended a few weeks ago. It was controversial because the young actress, known as Heart Evangelista here in the country turned her back on her parents for the man she thought she will spend the rest of her life with. The matinee idol, Jericho Rosales to local fans, has shown his true colors three years into the relationship.
You see, Jericho is known to be a playboy. Shooting an international movie, he met Hollywood starlets and shacked up with one, Heart’s driver even witnessing one rendezvous between the two. So Heart decided to break up with him and go back to her family, who despite everything that happened, with Heart badmouthing them even, welcomed her with open arms.
This is a classic story wherein a parents’ disapproval of a potential romantic partner of their child proved to be reasonable after all. Had Heart listened to her parents when they were adamantly shaking their heads over the relationship, she would not have suffered like she is suffering right now.
You know, when you are very much in love, there is nothing right to you but what you are feeling. Even if your gut instinct is telling you something is off, you ignore it because you just want the euphoria of being love continue and no one, not even your parents, can tell you what that the relationship is wrong. I am speaking through experience. Warning bells were ringing at the back of my head but NO, it was all perfect for me. Thank goodness I learned my lesson early on, before I threw away my dreams and everything my parents have worked hard for.
If any of the teens and those hopelessly in love are reading this post, I have one unsolicited advice to all of you: listen to your gut feeling. If you feel something is off, or your parents are telling you to back off, then listen to it, listen to them. Somewhere down the road, you’d thank your instinct, your parents for the warning.
And parents still know better than anybody else, even ourselves.
Believe me.
