I will be watching the State of the Nation Address (SONA) 2008 of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. I will be checking whatever she plans for the family for the rest of her term. I know that the Catholic church is flatly refusing the reproductive health bill. I am curious as to what the president will say about it. There are so many issues that the president will have to face now that her final two years as head of the state is upon her. I am more concerned with how everything will play out and its effect on the family.
So while waiting for the SONA by four in the afternoon, I am checking out Pacsafe that I can use for my travel sometime in the next few weeks.
Have a great week everyone!

Before anything else, I would like to apologize to everyone because I haven’t been visiting your blogs and dropping cards regularly like before. I just had a lot of things to do plus I am taking care of Hazel for a few days now. She has colds and is now currently sporting a swollen face because of allergies. I, myself, has been under the weather for days now. But I will be visiting you all later
Anyway…
Teacher Julie says… Let’s say we forget every stress, in whatever form and shape that comes our way and indulge in SIMPLE PLEASURES that we can enjoy alone. This is much like what we want to do during that Extra Hour where we spend “me” time.
The Weekly Question #9:
What are the 5 simple pleasures that will give you, well, simple pleasures?
I am a person who is easily pleased. Here are the 5 simple pleasures I have in life:
- Hanging out with my family. I love chatting with my sisters about anything and everything under the sun. It doesn’t matter if we’re at the mall or just hanging out at our living room. As long as we are together, it pleases me a lot.
- Making everyone around me happy. I have this attitude that it doesn’t matter if I am not happy or uncomfortable, as long as everyone around me is having a grand time then I am happy.
- Buying clothes for Hazel. I just love buying girly clothes for the little girl. Before, I kept on telling family and friends that I would rather have one boy than a girl. But now, with Hazel, I think I would love to have a girl and a boy hehe
- Buying, reading, collecting good books. I am a bookworm. I have to have three books at any given point in time. I have this weird habit of reading three books at the same time.
- Just seeing and hearing everyone at home laughing. Don’t you just love to hear your family laughing? It’s music to my ears.
There you go. Simple things that give me pleasure. Come on, tell me what simple pleasures you have in life.
I hope everybody’s doing great… How was your week so far?

I saw this entry about couple working for the same company at e-Pamilya…
It just reminded me of the couple I once worked with. The woman works as the unit head of a spin-off group of the main company. She is the marketing director of that group/company. The guy works as the head of the creative artists of the main company. There is no conflict there, considering they are working for “different” companies, right? Wrong.
The marketing director sometimes dabble as the QA head of the creative team. That’s where the conflict starts. How do you criticize a husband when his work is mediocre? She sugarcoats everything. And since the couple have been working for the company since they were both single, the owners overlook this situation.
I might have worked with a couple who shouldn’t really be working for the same company. There might be couples out there who are in the same situation but manages to remain professional at work. But how do you separate a personal against a professional life anyway? What if the two of you had a major fight and you have to be together for the whole day, stuck in the same office?
Do you think it is wise for a couple to remain working for the same company?

I hate waking up in the middle of a deep sleep. Well, who does not? There is this unwritten rule at home that when I am sleeping, especially when I spent the early hours of the morning working, I am NOT to be disturbed. I don’t really mind the noise, I am not bothered by that. Or that it is hot. I sleep like a log when I am tired. Dead to the world. So as long as nobody’s shaking my bed, that’s fine with me.
But there are instances when, no matter how sleepy I am or even if I just started sleeping an hour ago, I want to be awakened. These instances are when I forgot to give my brother his allowance for the day. I don’t like it when someone else (even if they are my siblings) go through my purse without my knowledge, even if the reason is valid. Just wake me up and I will give you the money. Or I need to be awakened when my alarm clock goes off and I was not yet waking up. I might have alarmed my clock for a reason. Of course, emergencies are a given already.
If there is absolutely no reason at all to wake me up, my siblings respect my rule. So I am really pissed off right now because my younger sister, the one next to me, woke us up because there is something in her pillow. Imagine our annoyance when now she is sound asleep and look at me, typing this entry. I went to sleep around midnight. On weekends, I try to get as much sleep as possible. And the reason why I don’t want to be awakened unnecessarily is because I find it hard to fall asleep again. She will really get a piece of our mind later in the morning, that’s for sure. Oh, she will be forgiven easily but she has to be reminded about sleeping rules in the house.
Do you have rules when it comes to sleeping? Or any “sacred rule” that your family knows and should respect?
Happy weekend everyone! Enjoy your day!

I must admit, I have limited knowledge, both theoretical and practical, when it comes to cooking. When my mom was alive, she did all the cooking for the family. Now, my sister, Roxanne, and my dad alternates in cooking. What I am good at is finding recipes. When we want something, say a different kind of pasta, I’d look for it online and will tell my sister how to cook it. I am good at that.
But hey, I know how to fry food, cook adobo, sinigang, beek steak, ginisang ampalaya… At least

How would you like to spend your special day, your birthday?
It will be my 30th birthday in a few weeks. I want to celebrate it with my family. This is how I want my 30th year on earth to be celebrated…
Go to mass in the morning to say thanks for the 30 years of my life.
Go watch a movie.
Invite a few friends over for some snacks.
Have dinner with my family.
And just enjoy the rest of the day.
A couple of months ago I was contemplating having a party. But with the state of the economy right now, it would be impractical to stage a lavish party. Even to shell out for a small party would be impractical in my book. I would rather just have dinner with my family on my special day.
How about you, how would you celebrate your special day?
Have a safe and productive week everyone!

I don’t like arguments. Especially when the person I am arguing with is my sibling and it’s about money. I value the money I worked hard for. But I do not look at it as something very important. It’s just money, I can earn it again. My siblings, my family, when I argue with them about money (or about any other thing for that matter)… the harmony at home is being disrupted. And harmony can’t be bought by money. I avoid disrupting the harmony at home as much as possible.
But last week, my sister was annoyed at me because our desktop is malfunctioning already. I haven’t been using the desktop ever since I bought my laptop. And when I was still using it, I took care of it very well. I used it to earn a living so naturally, I will not let it go to waste. But because it was probably being used for more than three years now, it really needs to have a memory upgrade already. I guess it served its purpose.
I just got mad at my sister because she was annoyed with me because of the desktop when I wasn’t even using it anymore. She wanted me to buy a new CPU for it but why would I when I was not the one using it anymore. It just seems ridiculous to assume that I will shoulder the expenses when she is working already and can shoulder the expenses herself. I told her as much. Now, she is setting aside money from her salary to buy a new CPU. Everything’s okay now.
What I love about my sisters is that, they know when they are wrong. And they respect me as their older sister. There are just days when because they see me at home most of the time that they turn their annoyance at me, the only target visible to them.
Oh, they apologize afterwards

There is nothing more fascinating with a kid than a good book that his/her parents read to him/her. I remember my mom reading books to me. I also remember her buying me books, encouraging me to read. My aunts did the same, as well as my grandma. They have all been instrumental in my love for books.
So when I learned about Personalized Stories’ children’s book, I just know I have to buy one for little Hazel. What is special about the children’s book from Personalized Stories is that, the stories will revolve around your kid, or in my case around little Hazel. You can choose what story you like for your kid. There are classic and Christian stories to choose from. For little Hazel, I think I will choose Alice in Wonderland for her. She is a precocious child and this story suits her.
If you are interested to get a personalized story for your kid, go to PersonalizedStories.com now.
