When I go to the mall, I notice people sleeping on the couches scattered around the place. These couches are actually meant to relieve the shoppers’ aching feet, not as a place where people can sleep. I went out to have coffee with a friend a week ago and I took this photo to show you…

Sarap ng tulog ng mama hehe
Malls here in the Philippines serve not only a place where people can shop but also a place where people can hang out. You need not have a lot of money, just enough for transportation and a drink if you get thirsty, then you are good to go. I remember when I was in between jobs before, I would often hang out at one of the malls in Ortigas Center and would spend most of the day there. It is better than staying at home and worrying when you can get a job. Sometimes, the pressure and worries inside the home can really drive you out of the house. And I realized that when I was in between jobs the first time and I couldn’t take the pitying looks from my mom then.
But instead of sleeping like what some people do, I brought books with me and would read at the food court. In between, I would gaze at what other people are doing…
In a way, I can empathize with the sleeping people I see. Malls can be an escape, a refuge, for people with a lot of things in mind. At least, even for a few hours, worries can be forgotten and life can be all about entertainment and fun.

he-he…believe ako yung nasa left side, mukhang nasa bahay ang position. Ganyan din ako nung nasa college ako manay, dun ako nagpapalamig. Minsan nga ang Dunkin’ ay ginawa pa naming study place.
dito pala ang mga malls ay merong portion for the walkers.

Haha yeah medyo aliw nga na parang sobrang sarap ng tulog nung ibang tao sa mall but I agree with your entry that sometimes, malls are used as an escape from everyday problems in life. Hohum
