Prayer for my brother

Whenever I pray to Him, I always ask for guidance for my brother. I always worry about the choices he will make. He doesn’t have a male figure to look up to. You know, my brother is not close to my dad. They hardly talk. I mean, yes, they talk but only when they have to say something to each other. Other than that, they would rather pretend that the other is not existing. When my brother was still a little kid, my other brother, the fourth in the family, got sick of leukemia. Naturally, all our attention was focused on him. Needless to say, James got neglected that time. He learned to be dependent on me early on because my parents were taking care of my sick brother. He felt unwanted. I just learned about this a few months ago when he and my dad had a row.

I would like to believe that I did my best to make him a better person. I spoiled him, yes. Being an only boy after my sick brother died, that’s inevitable. But when a kid goes to school, you never know what happens. He could become friends with some kids with bad influence.

And that’s what I always pray for. That he be guided in making choices. I can proudly say that I made good choices when I was in school. I hope and pray that he make the same choices. Or better ones at that.
