Good kid turned bad

A decade ago, when I last saw him, he was this happy young man with almost every thing he asked for. He was even showing off his spanking brand new car with custom headlights and a gleaming dashboard. My friend told me that a few years after that time I saw him, he became a drug addict. Wrong crown, probably. Or it might have something to do with their parents’ separation. Or it’s just him and the fad that time.
My friend and her parents were devastated on what happened to him. He’s still a dependent and they tried everything short of bringing him to rehab. He is now a new dad and they’re hoping it might change him. I am praying, too, that it might. He’s a good kid and I just can’t understand why it had to happen to him.
