Maintaining a household
Posted by Adie on December 5th, 2009. Filed under: Check Out.For the past three years, I’ve been working at home. Since my mom is no longer around, my dad’s the one in-charge at home now. He takes care of the cooking, maintenance and the little details. Since I am at home almost everyday, I make sure bills are paid on time, my brother’s basic needs are met, and my dad remembers the little details.
When my mom was still around, we always would kid her about forgetting so many things. Sometimes leaving the door unlocked, the faucets running, the stove on… but now that I am staying at home, I see it’s not really easy to maintain a household. My respect for my mom doubled even when she’s no longer around. I salute my dad for taking the reins even though he knew it would be difficult for him, considering he’s not really used to household work.
Most of the time, we need to be in someone else’s shoes before we can really grasp how they live their lives.
